Peoria, Arizona | Path Construction
Path Construction’s ECHO Suites by Wyndham in Peoria, Arizona marks the company’s first build for the extended-stay brand and the start of a new client relationship with Sandpiper. The project reflects Path’s growing hospitality portfolio and experience delivering extended-stay hotel developments across the Southwest.
“This project stood out because it was our first ECHO,” said Joe Gainer, Senior Project Manager at Path Construction. “It is a newer brand, and it gave us the opportunity to work with a new client.”
Supporting Peoria’s Hospitality Market
Once complete, the ECHO Suites will provide an additional lodging option for visitors and local guests. The hotel is located near major entertainment venues and State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals, offering convenient accommodations for sports fans and travelers. The development supports Peoria’s growing hospitality demand while contributing to the area’s broader economic activity.

Construction Scope and Site Development
The project draws on Path Construction’s experience in extended-stay hospitality. The overall scope follows a proven prototype model, allowing the team to execute work efficiently.
“The scope was fairly straightforward,” Gainer explained. “Our Path Southwest team has delivered several extended-stay hotels, so there were not many surprises.”
A major component of the work involved extensive site development. The team constructed a large retention pond and stormwater system, followed by finished parking areas and landscaping. These elements were critical to the site’s functionality and overall presentation.
“Seeing the site work, parking areas, and landscaping come together has been one of the most rewarding parts of the job,” Gainer said.
Team Leadership and Execution
Project Manager Collin Ingram and Superintendent James Brown led daily field operations, with additional support from Project Manager Isaac Spillum. Consistent subcontractor management and clear communication across the Path team helped maintain progress and keep major milestones on track.
Coordination also extended to the architect, engineers, and City of Peoria officials. When the city requested unanticipated electrical work, Path worked with the owner and design team to develop a solution that satisfied municipal requirements while limiting additional costs.
Overcoming Utility and Schedule Challenges
One of the most significant challenges involved securing permanent power through SRP, the regional utility provider. Initial delays threatened to extend the schedule by more than two months. Through proactive coordination and communication, the team reduced the delay to approximately three weeks, helping protect the owner’s targeted completion date.
Project Culture and Commitment
Gainer highlighted the dedication of both the project manager and superintendent, noting that they worked nearly every Saturday from start to finish to keep the schedule intact. He described the overall team dynamic in one word: “Fun.”

Looking Ahead
Upon completion, the ECHO Suites by Wyndham is expected to operate as a reliable, well-built extended-stay option that serves the Peoria community and visitors for years to come.
