Path Construction is excited to be part of the West Greene High School (WGHS) expansion project in Mosheim, Tennessee. This major expansion aims to elevate the school’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, providing students with modern facilities and resources to better prepare them for successful careers in various trades and industries.
A Strategic Expansion for Career and Technical Education
The West Greene High School expansion involves the construction of a two-story addition, which will add 22,862 square feet of new classroom and laboratory space. This new space will specifically support the school’s growing Career and Technical Education programs—a critical component in providing students with hands-on learning experiences and preparing them for the workforce.

Designed to seamlessly integrate with the existing structure, the expansion will not only maintain the school’s architectural integrity but also create a modern, state-of-the-art environment for students. The expanded facilities will provide the latest equipment, technology, and resources to enhance the CTE programs, giving students a competitive edge as they pursue careers in their chosen fields.
Minimizing Disruptions During Construction
One of the primary challenges of this expansion project is ensuring that the existing West Greene High School remains fully operational throughout construction. Path Construction has carefully planned and designated specific areas for construction activities, such as offices, storage containers, parking, and lay-down yards. These areas are cordoned off to minimize disruption and ensure that students and faculty can continue their daily activities without interruption during the project.
Key Project Milestones
The expansion of West Greene High School is progressing on schedule, with several key milestones already achieved:
- Contract Fully Executed: February 29, 2024
- Building Permit Issued: May 14, 2024
- Project Start Date: June 3, 2024
- Substantial Completion: November 2025
- Final Completion: November 2025
These milestones mark critical steps toward the successful completion of the project and the delivery of state-of-the-art facilities to enhance Career and Technical Education at WGHS.
Progress Update: Construction Continues Despite Challenges
Despite a rainy season with over five inches of rainfall causing minor delays, the project team has made excellent progress. The construction team recently focused on building the concrete masonry unit (CMU) walls and beginning rough-in work for plumbing and electrical systems.
The subsequent phases of the project will include completing the CMU walls and starting the grouting process. In addition, a change order related to Hurricane Helene repairs is currently under approval to ensure no further interruptions to the construction schedule.
The Importance of the West Greene High School Expansion
This expansion project is an essential step for West Greene High School and the entire community of Mosheim, TN. By enhancing the Career and Technical Education programs, WGHS will provide students with valuable skills and hands-on experience critical for success in today’s rapidly evolving job market.

The West Greene High School expansion will be a cornerstone of the region’s educational development, and Path Construction is proud to be part of this transformative project.
