Path Construction is completing exterior upgrades to the University of Tennessee Student Union plaza, transforming an existing landscape terrace into a new courtyard and primary entrance sequence along Phillip Fulmer Way. The work establishes a more prominent gateway to the student union while creating flexible outdoor space for daily student activity and campus events. The design integrates new hardscape, landscape plantings, seating areas, and gathering terraces that align with the existing building architecture and surrounding campus circulation. Construction includes demolition of existing walks, terraces, and planting areas, followed by installation of new concrete paving, grand stairs, seat walls, event lawn areas, and supporting site utilities while maintaining pedestrian access and protecting existing campus infrastructure. The completed plaza provides a welcoming outdoor environment that improves campus connectivity and expands the student union’s ability to host gatherings and programmed events.
