The Kedzie Avenue Bridge over the Northern Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad is 2,000 feet long, and heavy traffic goes both ways. The work consisted of structural concrete repair, full and partial depth patches, lead containment, cleaning and painting structural steel, concrete removal, concrete superstructure, and joint replacement. Laborers had to work above and around the railroad, which required special insurance considerations and training.
