The Canning Student Center will serve as a vibrant hub and welcoming front door to the campus, centralizing essential student services and fostering a sense of community. It will house the University Center and Hospitality Management programs while providing spaces for student life activities that promote student success and belonging. The building will feature a bridge connecting to the Foglia Foundation Health and Recreation Center and a redesigned drop-off area from the Algonquin Road entrance for improved access. Sustainability is a key focus, with a vegetated roof to manage stormwater runoff, efficient HVAC systems to minimize energy consumption, LED lighting and daylighting strategies to reduce electrical use, and enhanced insulation for improved building performance. The project will also incorporate low-flow plumbing fixtures, low-VOC materials for better indoor air quality, high-recycled content materials, locally sourced products, and reflective materials to reduce heat absorption, aligning with the college’s sustainability goals.
