Chicago State University Classroom Construction

Chicago State University Classroom Construction

Project Summary

Path Construction renovated the three-story steel-framed, brick-clad building to prepare it for future higher education use. Exterior envelope improvements included new PVC roofing with roof drains and sheet metal, replacement of 22 skylights, aluminum windows, doors, masonry parapet rebuilding, and 100% tuck-pointing to restore the building’s structure and appearance.

Interior updates included new multi-level concrete flooring, structural steel, drywall and glass storefront partitions, updated finishes, acoustical ceilings, operable partitions, lab casework, and classroom furnishings. Mechanical and electrical systems were modernized, and roof patching ensured long-term durability.

Working on an existing facility required scheduling around ongoing site activities and coordinating trades in tight spaces. The project enhanced building performance, aesthetics, and functionality while providing flexible, light-filled spaces for future educational use.
