Pace Bus Unveils New South Suburban Facility with Illinois Governor Attendance

On July 24, 2024, Pace Bus inaugurated its new South Suburban Facility, marking a significant regional public transit infrastructure advancement. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker attended the opening ceremony, highlighting the project’s importance in Pace’s expansion and modern transit facility design.

Path Construction is proud to have served as the general contractor for this landmark project.

The 22-acre site features two main buildings: a 55,157-square-foot, two-story Acceptance/Bus Storage & Maintenance Facility and a 29,000-square-foot, one-story Office Building. Both structures utilize precast concrete and steel bracing, with the Maintenance Facility supported by spread footings on steel piles. Site enhancements include stormwater detention, a dedicated bus driver training area, and EV charging systems for cars and buses.

The project exemplifies Path Construction’s commitment to sustainability and efficiency, integrating advanced energy systems and adhering to rigorous construction practices. Effective coordination with suppliers and subcontractors ensured timely and high-quality completion.

This new facility represents a significant investment in public transit and a testament to our dedication to improving infrastructure. Through collaboration with Pace and other stakeholders, we have developed a state-of-the-art facility poised to benefit the community for years.
