This project delivered a beautiful 30,000 square-foot retail building at one of Chicago’s busiest intersections in Lincoln Park. Path Construction provided extensive pre-construction services, working closely with the City of Chicago throughout the permitting process. The unique challenge involved protecting a crucial, grandfathered billboard on the site. During demolition, Path engineered a solution to detach the billboard from the original roof and secure it to a new temporary steel mounting system with concrete footings. Once the new two-story retail structure was erected around it, the billboard was safely reattached to the new roof. This meticulous process ensured that the billboard’s valuable protected status with the city remained intact while the new retail structure was successfully built.
