This project was a comprehensive structural and cosmetic upgrade, focusing on enhancing the facility’s durability, safety, and operational efficiency. Critical exterior work included full tuckpointing, selective brick replacement, and cast stone repairs, complemented by the reconstruction of masonry parapets and the replacement of the metal cornice. A new roof membrane replacement was installed for superior weather resistance. Security and lighting were improved with the installation of vandal-resistant roof fencing, wall packs, and overhead lighting. Interior system upgrades featured new mechanical components (dampers, fans, AC units) and enhancements to electrical and security systems. To ensure a safe environment, lead paint and asbestos flooring reduction measures were implemented. Interior spaces were refreshed with new wall finishes and selected flooring. Finally, the structural integrity of the multipurpose gymnasium was restored by repairing the corroded steel columns and truss structure, which necessitated supplemental concrete foundation work.
