University of Illinois – Allerton Mansion

University of Illinois – Allerton Mansion

Project Summary

Path Construction renovated a historic Georgian Revival-style home, transforming it into a sophisticated banquet and retreat center. Work included a full slate roof replacement with copper snow guards, restoration of the cupola, and rebuilding or repair of seven chimneys. Removed slate and brick materials were recycled for reuse, supporting sustainability goals.

Renovation required historical preservation checks, careful sequencing to maintain facility operations, and installation of a temporary roof tent to allow winter work. The project preserved the home’s historic character while enhancing functionality, delivering a durable, visually restored facility suitable for contemporary events and gatherings.
